ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Professional Musician, Randy Porshia, is a drummer/ percussionist and vocalist. From the age of 10 he has more than 48 years of musical experience.
He’s played more than 20 years for:
• The Carolina Opry
• Southern Country Nights Theater
• Legends in Concert
• Alabama Theater
• The Palace Theater
• Superstarz Live at Celebration Theater
• Beach Wagon Country Music Club
Other Notable Work Includes:
• Session player for numerous artists, including modern symphony musician/composer Melissa Porshia, The Kingsmen Quartet, Squire Parsons, The Anchormen
• Numerous television appearances on The Nashville Network (TNN) with Crook & Chase and Legends in Concert
• Drummer for The Platters, Bill Gaither and Friends Tour, Buddy Emmons, Dina Shore, Howard Hanger European Tour
• Anthony Burger studio sessions and live concerts
• Extensive studio session work
• Teaching and coaching drum students of all levels and ages
Education:
• Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Mars Hill College, 1980
• Studied under Dr. Joy (Jolerd) Gentile, noted percussionist for Warner Brothers, MGM, Paramount, Fox, Max FleischerStudios (notable for cartoons featuring Woody Woodpecker, Koko the Clown, Betty Boop, Bimbo, Popeye the Sailor, and Superman), as well as big band drummer for acts like Woody Herman, Dorsey Brothers and Desi Arnaz.
